You may have heard that a big weekly boycott against Amazon and all its subsidiaries began on March 7, organized by the same group – the Usa Union – after the 28th of “Economic Blackout”. The perspective of this boycott can feel staggering given the many companies that own Amazon: Whole Foods, Ring, Twitch, IMDB, Zappos and the List continues. However, one of the most prominent companies in the Amazon portfolio is what I have done with a lot of business over the years, obedient, and if you are feeling a certain way to lose your audiobook adjustment, I have a super free alternative to which you need to know.
Audiobooks are an addiction that I chose directly from the college, with a new need to conquer my brain while traveling and lunch breaks. I was pushed to try to try them after being ashamed of my inability to make a lot of progress abnormal throughout my university education. With just a few months of a audible membership, I had worked through that Fantasy Bible and I was out on new literary horizons.
Audiobooks are not for everyone – some people have told me they find it difficult to keep what they hear – but if audiobooks are for you, you need to see an app called Libby. Easy is easy to use and cost nothing, so I wouldn’t blame you if you continue with it even after Amazon’s boycott ends!

What is Libby?
Previously known as Overdrive, the Libby app allows you to enter digital publications from real library systems. While I can be here to evangelize about its audiobook offers, you can also borrow eBooks, digital comics and digital magazines.
All that content will not cost you a coin, but while there may be such a thing as a free lunch, there is certainly nothing like a lunch without effort. All this to say, Libby requires an actual library card to access anything, and while some systems will allow you to enroll on an online card, in most places, you will eventually need to go to your local library personally to settle with a card. You will need to make sure you remain updated. A small price to pay, if you ask me, for an almost unlimited supply of free books.

Where can I get libby?
Libby is available through the App Store and Google Play Store. Alsosht also in Amazon app storeBut if you are already boycotting them, this is probably not useful information. If you have a phone, tablet or laptop in your pocket or purse, you can get libby. You can also access the service through an online browser on Libbyapp.com.
Then how does it work?
Once you have created a libby account and entered your library card information, all you need to do is look for the title you want and borrow it. If you’ve ever used Spotify, Apple Apple Music or other audible audible or Apple Books applications, you’ll know what to expect with Libby Player. Somewhere else, you can read the ebooks in Libby or by exporting them to your Kindle app. (There is no such luck for non-amazon electronic readers, I’m afraid.)
One of Libby’s main value proposals is the ability to add multiple library cards. Some library systems will allow you to enroll on a card even if you do not live in its local area. For example, as a resident of the New York State, I can enter the New York Public Library in Manhattan, the Queens Public Library and the Brooklyn Public Library, as well as my local library, dramatically expanding the catalog from which I can attract. Go by digging to Google and see if any library system in your country offers something similar.
Is there any obstacles for Libby?
While Libby is connecting you to real libraries, you have to work within the restrictions of the library rent. This means that each title will have a limited number of “copies” that the library can lend at one time, so if the one you are looking for is all reserved, you will need to put a retention and wait for it to become available. Once you have borrowed something, you will only have access to it for a certain time, usually two to three weeks. Maybe reconsider using Libby to see the infinite Jest or Stephen’s King’s Stand, unless you have a leisure mountain.
You will also notice in Libby, as opposed to audio or Apple books, that audio quality for audiobooks leaves something to be desired. And unlike the audible, there is no option to choose from higher quality or low quality files. Of course, not something that will be a switch for most people, but something to keep in mind the perfectionists.
